Friendly place to to eat breakfast. Very clean on the inside and outside. Breakfast menu was simple and there's nothing wrong with that, food was great and coffee cup was kept full and hot. Highly recommended place to eat and I plan on going back for lunch sometime.

I had the hot beef sandwich and my wife had the chicken fried steak lunch special. The food was fantastic. The prices are very reasonable. Staff is very friendly. I would recommend this cafe to everyone. I can't wait to return and try other items on the menu.

We'll kept secret. Stopped on the way to the airport expecting just "cafe" food. Now I find myself rating restaurants by the great food and service we received at the Shady Bend. Even IHOP, my (well, used to be) favorite breakfast restaurant doesn't come close to the breakfast I was served here. And I don't even want to mention prices.

I went there 2 days ago for the first time. Was hungry looking for breakfast and when I went inside it was full so I didn't get a table or a seat but wait till someone get my my order. For my surprise no one came to ask me what I want no one even notice me so after 10 minutes I left without my food. I found the phone on Google and call and ask if they take orders to go they say yes so they took my order over the phone and I take others 10 minutes to drive back for my food. It was ready when I get there so I took it and left. Everything was delicious and cheap and warm. My recommendation is that keep doing good food like that but take the time maybe if service or hire another person so when is full people don't get waiting for so long.

Great place to eat! We had french toast and hashbrown breakfast bowls. The French toast was thick and perfectly grilled. The bowl was generous and they were wonderful about accommodating our vegetarian preferences. We were there mid-week and it was moderately busy at 10am! The food and service were both excellent! We will definitely be back!

Very personable staff. Bacon is thick slices cooked perfect. Eggs cooked the way you order them (which is a rare now days). Definately will be back for breakfast.

Delicious home cooked food in a quaint old location is located at the intersection of Nebraska's Highway 30 and Shady Bend Road, Grand Island. Historically a gas station for travelers of yesteryear, it is important enough in history that when it came time for a new one the intersection of Shady Bend Road and Highway 30 the road made a curve around this landmark. Now turned into a local cafe, the food is delicious in generous portions for very reasonable prices. Open for breakfast and lunch from 5 AM until 3 PM. Evenings open are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. See photo for open times beginning January, 2019. If you want a delicious taste of homemade cooking Shady Bend Cafe is a must! By the way, their homemade pies have a deliciously huge reputation in this area.

Good food, nice cozy atmosphere like eating at a house cafe. Great service. I enjoyed visiting a building that my parents used to drink at as a bar on the outskirts of city limits on Sundays and where I occasionally visited as a young adult. It used to be one of the closest place in Grand Island to buy beer on Sundays up until the middle 70's. I will definitely visit again.

I have neaver neen to shady bend. I know a friend who has been there. And says its a great place.

Good American food and amazing staff in a restored historical landmark. Rustic atmosphere decorated with Americana! My only complaint is I wanted to purchase a t-shirt to show my support for this establishment, but they didn't have any left in my size.

The food is home made, very, very good. The servings are huge. Be prepared to take leftovers home! The whole staff are ready to please you in any way they can. The salad bar is the best in Grand Island, hands down. All kinds of home made salads. You will not be disappointed. Give it a try.

Its a historical building. The food is good, the building is unique with the way the dining room is set up. Nooks and crannies. The way an English pub or inn would be set up. Service is good and prices run with your other eateries.

Very good! They done a great job to the place and love the home cooked meals. I had the hot roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes and gravy!

Super friendly staff all the way from the cooks to the servers. Very down home food and atmosphere. Love the historic aspect to this place and all the history of holds. The salad bar was very good. They had a great variety of pasta salads and a couple other things to go with the lettuce and toppings and a nice variety of dressings. They have a daily special. Prices were average. also, another plus might be that you have to order your fries or side item separately and pay for them separately if you want them. This way, if all you want is a simple burger or sandwich and don't want a side, you don't have to pay for it. Great variety of homemade pies and cake too.
